The short version: We don't track you. We don't build profiles. Reviews are anonymous. Session cookies keep your review from being lost if you disconnect — nothing more. We sell aggregated business performance data, not personal data.

01What we collect

When you submit a review on Index-Reviews or any of its verticals (TasteServed, StayWrite, EatsDelivered, ServiceWize, Film-Index, ScreenIndex), we collect:

  • The review scores you submit (pillar scores and composite index score)
  • The business or film you are reviewing (name and location if applicable)
  • Any optional comment text you choose to include
  • The date and time of submission
  • A non-identifying session token to prevent duplicate submissions within a session
  • Standard server request metadata (IP address, browser type) retained only in server logs for security and abuse prevention — not linked to review data

When a business submits a listing claim through our business portal, we collect the business name, city, type, and the contact email provided. This information is used only to respond to the claim request.

02What we do not collect

We are explicit about this because it shapes the entire system design:

  • We do not require or collect reviewer names, email addresses, or any identifying information to submit a review
  • We do not use cross-site tracking cookies, pixel trackers, or fingerprinting
  • We do not build behavioral profiles of users across sessions or across sites
  • We do not sell, rent, or license personal data to third parties
  • We do not use review submissions to target advertising
  • We do not link review data to identifiable individuals

03How we use data

Review data is used to:

  • Calculate and display business performance scores (Index Scores) across all verticals
  • Generate aggregated analytics, trend reports, and benchmark comparisons for businesses via paid tiers and ProSynServ
  • Improve the accuracy and reliability of the review system
  • Detect and prevent review abuse or manipulation

At no point is review data linked to an identifiable reviewer for analytical or commercial purposes. All business analytics are derived from aggregated, anonymised records.

04Cookies and session storage

Index-Reviews uses session cookies only. A session cookie is a temporary identifier that exists only for the duration of your browser session — it is deleted when you close your browser.

We use session cookies for one purpose: to preserve your review-in-progress if your connection drops before submission. Session cookies are not used for tracking, analytics, advertising, or identifying returning users.

We do not use persistent cookies, third-party cookies, or any cookie that survives the closure of your browser session. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking services.

05Third-party services

Index-Reviews integrates with the following third-party services in limited, defined ways:

  • VirtualCity (virtualcity.cc) — Used to provide the business search and identity layer when you look up a business to review. VirtualCity's own privacy policy governs their data handling.
  • TMDB (The Movie Database) — Used by Film-Index to retrieve film title, year, poster, and director information. We do not share reviewer data with TMDB.
  • Google Fonts — Used to serve typography. Google may log font requests; see Google's privacy policy for details. No review data is passed to Google.
  • Google Places API — Used as a fallback business search when a business is not yet in VirtualCity. Search queries are passed to Google; no reviewer data is shared.

We do not integrate with social media platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.

06Data retention

Review records (scores, business name, optional comment, timestamp) are retained indefinitely as part of a business's performance history. This is the data that makes trend analysis and benchmarking possible over time.

Business claim requests (business name, email, type) are retained until the claim is processed, and thereafter for correspondence records for up to 24 months.

Server log data (IP addresses) is retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then deleted.

07Your rights

Because reviews are submitted anonymously, we have no mechanism to identify which review was submitted by which person. This is by design — it is the foundation of the system's privacy model.

If you submitted a review and wish to request its removal, you may contact us at [email protected] with details about the business reviewed, approximate date, and score. We will make reasonable efforts to locate and remove the record, but cannot guarantee identification without identifying information that we deliberately do not collect.

For business claim data: contact us at the address below to request correction or deletion of business contact information we hold.

08Business data

Aggregated performance data — Index Scores, pillar averages, trend metrics — is shared with the business it describes via paid dashboard tiers and the ProSynServ platform. This data does not contain reviewer-identifying information.

Businesses do not receive the ability to identify who left individual reviews. Review comments displayed publicly on review pages are the only exception — these are displayed as submitted, without reviewer attribution.

09Children

Index-Reviews is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data through our platform, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Index-Reviews after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will not retroactively change how we use previously collected data in ways that conflict with this policy's core commitments — no tracking, no profiling, no selling of personal data.
